Many classical compositions were inspired by the beauty of nature, yet the world that inspired them is rapidly being destroyed by human activity. We believe that when orchestras perform these pieces, we can no longer do so without context—we must all look beyond the music and do our part to help protect our planet.

​PROTESTRA is excited to present “Take a Stand: A Concert For Climate Action,” live and in person on Saturday, October 30 at 7:00 PM EDT! This concert will feature a variety of works for orchestra and chamber ensembles, from timeless classics inspired by natural landscapes to contemporary compositions written about humanity’s relationship with the environment. The musical program will include pieces by Ludwig van Beethoven, Vincent Ho, Lauren McCall, Jessie Montgomery, Paola Prestini, and Bedřich Smetana. In addition, guest speakers will join us to share ways we can work together to combat climate change.

The concert will take place in person at Broadway Presbyterian Church (W. 114th St. and Broadway in Manhattan). We will also livestream the concert through our YouTube channel. All tickets are pay-what-you-can (suggested donation: $25) and we will donate a portion of the proceeds to WE ACT and the Environmental Defense Fund (EDF). We encourage you to visit these organizations’ websites to learn more about the amazing work that they do!

We have two types of tickets available through Eventbrite: one for the in-person concert, and one for the virtual YouTube livestream. Depending on the type of ticket you purchase, Eventbrite will email you either your in-person ticket or a link to our YouTube stream. A limited number of in-person tickets may be available at the door, but as seating is limited, we highly recommend reserving your seats through Eventbrite ahead of time.
